The I AM Foundation and San Diego

Over the last decade (2000-current day) The I AM Foundation has gifted over 50,000 educational books to the children of The San Diego County Office of Education, The San Diego School District and The San Diego and National AVID Program.  We are proud to have reached this accomplishment with the help of all the teachers in San Diego and a special volunteer named Becky Breedlove who helped us gift and distribute a majority of these books.

Becky Breedlove and Emily, an I AM Foundation volunteer, load Becky’s car with Writing’s On The Wall Books donated by author Terry Tillman for The San Diego Unified School District, San Diego Office of Education and The AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Program. We’d also like to thank Robert Saunders who was instrumental in helping us strategically work with AVID and the San Diego School District.

Founder and CEO of The I AM Foundation, Steve Viglione addresses a group of 200 teachers at the San Diego County Office of Education AVID Program monthly meeting. Each month over two years, The I AM Foundation would bring in an author and speaker who would speak with the teachers and gift their books to them. In May of 2003, Bob Saunders and a local business association awarded Steve Viglione with their Citizen of The Year Award.

AVID Teachers line up for a meet and greet with author Le Ly Hayslip, author of Heaven and Earth which was made into a feature film by Oliver Stone.  All teachers received an autographed copy of her book.

Author of the international best selling book Nonviolent Communication, Marshall Rosenberg, speaks to teachers at the monthly I AM Foundation/AVID event. Each teacher received a copy of Life Enriching Education as a gift from The I AM Foundation and Marshall’s outstanding publisher, PuddleDancer Press.

Steve Viglione and Dr. Marilyn Powers speak to 3rd Graders at Bayview Elementary School. Each child received an I AM! Affirmation Book as a gift.
