The I AM Foundation Visits the Incline Village Elementary School in Incline Village, NV and Truckee, CA

Incline Village is a beautiful mountain community situated on Lake Tahoe above Reno, Nevada.  It is a community dedicated to supporting and preserving the environment and the education of its children.  What better place to introduce I Am The Earth, The I AM Foundation’s newest book that teaches children about loving our planet.

Incline Village has a non-profit called the Children’s Cabinet.  The Cabinet is very involved with education in the region, and has established an after-school program called the Homework Club, for elementary aged children to receive homework assistance.  Last year, the local I AM Foundation volunteer, Leslie Brown, gifted The I AM Affirmation Book: Discovering the Value of Who You Are to the kids at the Homework Club.

On Thursday, May 20th, 2010, Steve Viglione and Dr. Marilyn Powers, The I AM Foundation founders, came to Incline Village themselves to meet the children and give them their own signed copies of I Am The Earth.

There were 13 children attending that day at the Homework Club, and we were all delighted to learn they are all bilingual!  Steve and Marilyn took turns with the children reading sections of I Am The Earth with the children in both English and Spanish. The children were thrilled with the beautiful illustrations and affirmations in both English and Spanish to affirm their roles as good stewards of the earth.

Steve, Marilyn, and Leslie were hosted at the Homework Club by Lori Miller, the Director of the Children’s Cabinet, and Leslie Blunden, the Homework Club Program Coordinator.  The Cabinet’s AmeriCorps volunteer was there reading along with the children. Everyone received their own copy of I Am The Earth, and after reading the affirmations together, the kids got down to working on their homework! (Tim Nelson is the AmeriCorps volunteer.  The reading volunteer is Polly Wolfe and she’s the vice chair of the Homework Club’s Board.)

Steve and Marilyn also did a book signing and talk at For Goodness Sake in Truckee, CA.
