San Diego CA – The gift of a book to inspire children in being good stewards of the planet is being gifted to kids, parents and teachers at the McGill School of Success. The children met the Authors of I Am The Earth and The Illustrator from The I AM Foundation, an educational 501c3 nonprofit founded in 1998. The organization has already gifted and distributed over a million physical books worldwide. The I AM Foundation gifted each child at The McGill School of Success in San Diego with copies of their I Am The Earth Book for children thanks to a grant from SAIC’s The Energy, Environment & Infrastructure Business Unit, Social Responsibility Committee . I Am The Earth is part of their Love~Wisdom Series: Building Life Skills for Life. The event took place on Monday, September 27th at 11 AM at The McGill School of Success at 3025 Fir Street in San Diego, CA, 92102.
Mc Gill of School of Success is a low-income school. The majority of their families are one parent family or grandparents raising grandchildren. “These parents and grandparents have limited resources and aren’t able to buy books for their children in a regular basis. We are excited to give these beautiful gifts to our students and are grateful to The I AM Foundation and their sponsors.” Says McGill Elementary School Teacher Delia Terry
Authors and Co-Founders Steve Viglione and Dr. Marilyn Powers will address the children in an assembly at the school. Their newest is a green book for kids, I Am The Earth: Positive Affirmations for Loving Our Planet written in English and Spanish, is a full color picture book illustrated by animator and illustrator Mauricio Hoffman. Mr. Hoffman lives in the Los Angeles area and has worked for Sony Entertainment and World of Warcraft. Mauricio will be addressing the children as well. All the children in grades 1 through 5 received their copy of I Am The Earth which was sponsored by the Energy, Environment & Infrastructure Solutions division of SAIC. In addition, for each book being gifted a tree was planted through The Arbor Day Foundation.
The I AM Foundation’s signature book, The I AM! Affirmation Book: Discovering Who You Are has 177,000 copies in print in various editions and is translated in 42 languages. The book encourages children to love and believe in themselves while respecting themselves and others. It helps them discover their value so they can bring their value to the world. This book will be gifted to the children in pre-k that day.
The I AM! Affirmation Book has been gifted in over 40 countries worldwide and endorsed by world leaders such as The First Lady of Sri Lanka. The I AM Foundation gifted over 75,000 I AM! Affirmation Books to children who survived the Tsunami in Sri Lanka. Shiranthi Rajapksa, The First Lady of Sri Lanka said in her endorsement of The I AM Foundation: “I convey my most sincere thanks to you for this work done especially for children, to help them become architects of a good society in the future.”
