The Thelma Lewis Foundation/GrandMa’s Hands is a foundation for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren! Based in Austell, Georgia, For 20 years, CEO Veronica Rushin-Long and her husband and have raised their 16 grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Most of the children at their foundation have reading difficulties. They strive every summer to do a low-income camp and have been able to run it for free for over 16 years by using the Community Room at our local library and their backyard! This is the first time that they aren’t financially able to offer it free.
The I AM Foundation recently coordinated the gifting of several books to their foundation.
CEO Veronica Rushin-Long writes:
Thank you so much! As we ready ourselves for our Summer Reading Spectacular…this news brings us GREAT JOY!
