Help Support their Music Program!
Americas Foundation, based in Tijuana, Mexico, is working to create schools high in expectations and rich in beauty, with the belief that their students will transcend the bounds of poverty and become self-reliant, engaged, and inspired leaders of the future. They have established two schools in Colonia Esperanza (one of the poorest neighborhoods in Tijuana), the ‘Jardin de Ninos La Esperanza’ and ‘Colegio La Esperanza’. The schools, aptly named “the Children’s Garden of Hope” and “the School of Hope”, provide 250 disadvantaged children with complete educational instruction through the sixth grade.
The mission of the Americas Foundation is to give aid to disadvantaged children and promote bi-national community development. The primary approach of the Foundation to achieve these goals has been to provide talented, intelligent children living in underdeveloped neighborhoods the opportunity to study, experience the Arts, and begin to realize their potential. The Music Program
Currently the foundation is working to improve and expand their Music Program and they are providing instruments and free instruction to the children who want to learn to play. They have also been invited to send 10 students to Tlaxcala, Mexico in July to participate in the National Children’s Orchestra.
To support this powerful objective the foundation would welcome donations of any instrument, string, wind, or percussion, as well as donations to fund the students’ trip to the National performance in Tlaxcala. They need a total of about $3000 to pay for the travel and expenses, the students will be hosted by families so there is no hotel fee.
If you are at all inspired to support Americas Foundation and to help the children with their music program, Kathy Casey is collecting instruments and or tax deductable donations made out to “The Americas Foundation”. You can send them to:
