“Kids for Peace” Gifts I AM! Affirmation Books in Haiti

The I AM Foundation has gifted thousands of I AM! Affirmation Books to Kids for Peace for distribution to children around the world. Kids for Peace creates Peace Packs for children that include some wonderful notes from children and supplies from other donors.

Haitian children receive the Peace Packs from Kids for Peace with I AM! Affirmation Books creating beaming smiles!

After the 2010 Earthquake in Haiti, The I AM Foundation teamed up with Kids for Peace again to gift I AM! Affirmation Books to the children of Haiti. I AM books were sponsored by a fundraiser by Compassion Happens and PuddleDancer Press  and were gifted to Kids for Peace to place in their Peace Packs.

Here is an excerpt from the Kids for Peace Newsletter regarding their work in Haiti:

A child from Haiti reads his note of friendship found inside his Peace Pack.

When Kids for Peace learned of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, the children immediately knew they had to do something.  Our chapters all over the world got busy, joined forces, and raised money to donate to our friends at Sion Fonds (www.sionfonds.org)  and buy Peace Pack supplies.  Thanks to an amazing fundraiser put on by Kamie of It’s a Luv Thing (www.itsaluvthing.com), we raised enough money to make 250 Peace Packs and send $4500 cash to Haiti.  Wow!

We had several Peace Pack making events for Haiti.  The largest was held at the New World Leadership Children’s Academy in Encinitas, California.  The children learned about life in Haiti from John Monfort who was born and raised in Haiti and lost a family member in the earthquake.  The kids were mesmerized by his stories of banana trees, soccer and colorful cars.  His richness of spirit touched our kids and inspired great kindness in their notes of friendship inside their Peace Packs.

Because of close relationships we have with others, our efforts have made a direct and meaningful impact in Haiti.  The children of Sion Fonds have received medical help and much needed supplies, thanks to our kids.  With the magnificent efforts of Eric Klein of www.can-do.org and our very own Ruthie Kaminskas, all Peace Packs have been delivered to beaming smiles.

Kids for Peace truly is uplifting our world with love and action.

The I AM Foundation is proud to be a supporter of the great work that Kids for Peace does in the world by gifting our books to their programs and peace packs.

Words of Power

Affirmations for Loving Your Age, Work, & Life

Words of Power: Affirmation for Loving Your Age, Work, & Life

Words of Power Affirmations for Loving Your Age, Work, & Life

Excerpt:

“The call has come. We are living in a time of tremendous change, change that often feels overwhelming, even frightening. Our security — physical and financial — is being threatened like never before. Faced with so much instability, many of us have begun to look on the future with dread, to feel our experience and ability are no match for the forces of change. Yet in the midst of this uncertainty, we are being called to something greater. We are being given the opportunity to tap into the power of love within ourselves, rather than give ourselves over to circumstances beyond our control.

Releasing this dynamic power of love begins when we choose and speak words for loving our age, loving our work, and loving our life. Accessing and understanding this power expands our vision beyond what we have known, experienced, or believed to be possible. The dreams of the past are no longer viable. There is no going back.

The power of love is your foundation for change. Without love, you have no vision. Without love you have no inspiration. When your primary focus is survival, you limit your possibilities. You put yourself in a box. But when you love your age, love your work, and love your life, you step out of the box, stand up for your Self, and create new ways of responding to changing conditions and challenges. The power of love is the will to choose a new path. The power of love is the heart that ignites your passion. The power of love is the wisdom to redefine your age, your work, and your life.

So what does it look like to love your age, your work and your life?

Loving your age means recognizing that age is a state of consciousness, not a number. Age is simply a reflection of how you choose to think and act in the world. It means looking at major birthdays—the “big 0” birthdays—as starting points, rather than destinations, as moments to set your intentions to become proactive with your life and expand your vision. To love your age is to know that nothing can limit your heart’s capacity to give and receive love, or your openness to change. It is knowing that, from birth to death, you are free to express your unique talents and gifts. It is knowing that you are never too young or too old to be about the business of knowing who you are and why you’re here. As tennis star Martina Navratilova once said in an interview at the U.S. Tennis Open, “Age is overrated.”

Loving your work means expressing your spirit— what are uniquely your gifts and talents, your spark. It means being fully aware that the essence of who you are and the work you feel called to do are one.

When you love your work, you are clear about how your creative spirit is best expressed. You may be focused on a job, actively engaged in learning the principles of security, autonomy, and accountability. Or you may be setting long-term goals for a career, your sights set on experiencing fame, success and financial prosperity. Or you may already have mastered the principles of manifesting what you want and now are ready to give back your passion and joy. Loving your work means being fully engaged in whatever you are doing, flowing and glowing with anticipation and excitement. It means continually expanding the frontiers of learning, keeping mindful of nurturing yourself, and responding to the genuine needs of others. Loving your work means being turned on by what you do, enjoying the process of how you do it, and relishing in what you are able to accomplish and achieve.

Loving your life means choosing to be the choice‑maker, the creator of your life.  Instead of giving your power away— of having others give you your “lines,” write your script— you have the confidence to be the producer, director, and author of your own script. You fashion your role and choose the cast of characters. Every day is an opportunity to step on your movie set and direct the next scene. You take responsibility for the script, your performance, and the outcome. Loving your life means entering a field of unlimited possibilities, far beyond the limitations of your past beliefs and conditioning. Secure in this knowledge, you possess the map. You are able to draw to yourself the people and resources which support and empower your path. You have the faith that whatever you conceive, you can create, and you love your creation.

Words of Power as part of The Love~Wisdom Series ™ is designed for those who are ready to embrace change, and affirm enthusiastically, “I love my age, I love my work, I love my life!”

Words of Power is a collection of 60 affirmations and simple applications to guide you in replacing old, outdated definitions of age, work, and life with new definitions that inspire you to create a life of passion and purpose.

We received a book request from an educator, Elnita Edwards, at the Ho. Luis Munoz Marin Elementary School in Philadelphia, PA and in August 2010, The I AM Foundation shipped her a classroom set of I Am The Earth and a teachers curriculum. Here is Elnita Edwards request:

“Our school is beginning a new program this year called AVID, (Advancement Via Individual Dtermination). It targets students who are considered “middle of the road achievers,” and helps them to develop skills needed for success from high school through college. Unfortunately, in order to make those dreams a reality, we are in dire need of books from various genres to help wet their appetites for adventure and learning. We greatly appreciate whatever assistance you can extend towards satisfying a child’s thirst for knowledge. Thank You, Elnita C. Edwards”

If you would like to donate books to Elnita’s classroom, please contact us. We would also like to thank all of our Points of Light Donors for making this donation possible.

We received a book request from a teachers assistant, Candice McWilliams, at the Montclair Elementary School in Fayetteville, NC and in August 2010, The I AM Foundation shipped her a classroom set of I AM! Affirmation Books and a teachers curriculum. Here is Candice’s request:

“I am a teacher assistant that has worked at Montclair Elementary School for the past 18 years. I am currently a senior at Fayetteville State University. I will be doing my student teaching in the Spring and graduating in May. Our county has suffered greatly from budget cuts and therefore the amount of money that we are alloted per classroom has decreased. I have returned to kindergarten this year after having been in first grade for the past seven years. Our class library is looking rather dismall. Sadly, kindergarteners to not have a large enough selection of age appropriate books in our school library either. I thank you so much for your consideration.”

If you would like to donate books to Candice’s classroom, please contact us. We would also like to thank all of our Points of Light Donors for making this donation possible.

Books donated to Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas, Texas

We received a book request from a teacher, Tameko Brigham, at the Thomas Jefferson High School in Dallas, TX and in August 2010, The I AM Foundation shipped her a classroom set of I Am The Earth: Positive Affirmations for Loving Our Planet and a teachers curriculum. Here is Tameko’s request:

“I teach at a Title I school in an urban school district. I work with 9th-12th grade students who have learning disabilities in ELA and Math. This will be my second year teaching and the books that I inherited from the previous teacher are outdated and I do not have class sets. I would love to have a class library and have books available to my students. I am pursuing my MEd. in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Literacy and realize the importance of having these supplemental resources in my classroom. I would gladly appreciate and accept any assistance available.”

If you would like to donate books to Tameko’s classroom, please contact us. We would also like to thank all of our Points of Light Donors for making this donation possible.

After reviewing our website and seeing the video re: Kenya, Gayle Brock of the YMCA National wanted to share with us that she involved with a missions group (the Jamaica Children’s Fund) that travels annually to Montego Bay, Jamaica to visit approximately 16 schools, orphanages, etc., ministering to children.  (This is not done through the YMCA but through her church.) They conduct the mission trip the first week of December each year. They will be returning in December 2010.  Most of the children are of pre-school to 2nd grade.  They were wondering if there might be any opportunity for the schools we visit there to possibly also be blessed with books for their younger classrooms similar to the children in Africa.

And, The I AM Foundation said yes! We’ve donated 50 books (25 I Am The Earth: Positive Affirmations for Loving Our Planet and 25 of The I AM! Affirmation Book: Discovering The Value of Who You Are) for the children visited on this mission.

From their website: The Jamaica Children’s Fund is wholeheartedly commited to supporting the children of Jamaica, and other children in critical need. Our volunteers are servant-ambassadors who minister to the needs of the children, as well as giving a Christian message.

Many people ask, why Jamaica? When one thinks of Jamaica, sandy beaches and luxury resort comes to mind. But the majority of Jamaican people are economically poor, either located in rural, isolated communities, or in the city slums. With no resources to fall back on, the struggle to survive is far more intense than in the economically blessed, United States.

I am so grateful to be called by God to assist these people in any way I can. Jamaicans are proud, resilient and resourceful, with a rich history and culture. I feel privileged to know them and to be able to help their beautiful children. I invite you to join us on this humanitarian journey through Christ.

Books Donated to Students in Need in Orlando, FL

In response to the recipient request below, The I AM Foundation has gifted a box of I AM! Affirmation books for all the kids in Kimberly’s class and Eat By Choice, Not By Habit books donated by PuddleDancer Press for teachers and the school library.

“I work in a title I school which means that the majority of the families are low income. All of our students are on free lunch. In my classroom I have some books that I have been given from retiring teachers. The books that I have are out dated and many of the students do not show interest in them. I have had to pass on some of my books because they were too low for my students. My students and I would greatly appreciate any books that could be donated to our class.  In my classroom I have reading levels that vary from 2nd grade to 5th grade.”

–Kimberly Marcialis
Teacher at Ridgewood Park Elementary
Orlando, FL

If you would like to donate books to this classroom, please contact us at www.iamfoundation.org

A donation of 40% of the royalty from each purchase of this e-book will be made to the I AM Foundation.

Pippi’s And Piper’s Outdoor Adventure
by Joyce Shafer

Pippi and Piper have an unexpected outdoor adventure when they meet three very unusual new friends. This story with images appeals to young children (and children of any age with a childlike sense of fun). It’s a little instructional, a little practical, a little fantastical, and sure to bring a smile.

Feedback from Lulu.com

If attention is not in the present moment, then the moment is missed and the lesson is lost. No matter what age, understanding the simplest of truths lends greatly to the quality of our lives. Through words and art, Joyce Shafer invites you to come along and frolic through the colorful lives of Pippi and Piper, as they discover the beauty of Nature’s secrets from conversations with creatures that crawl. The bright images offer lightness, joy, and simplicity, keeping both children and adults visually engaged as the unfolding story recounts some very basic, but profound truths. In words easily understood by those from six to sixty, and beyond, Joyce’s message is clear…true listening heightens awareness. Nature has much to teach, if we would only listen, really listen.

Yoga in Costa Rica & Camp; The I AM Books!

Martha Hoffman  had an amazing time gifting books in Costa Rica to participants in a yoga retreat. They gifted 100 – I Am The Earth Books and I AM! Affirmation books in Mal Pais School, Santa Teresa School and Little Dolphins pre-school

They are also helping to renew the Mal Pais school and it has been a really beautiful journey. Thanks to their initiative the community gets together and works for the school.  Parents are starting to see the results and they get inspired and motivated to volunteer and help a little more.
But there is always something more to do and some more help to give.  Now they  want to create a program that will help the school have an English Teacher for the children.  Right now they have NO ENGLISH teacher and they are not learning any English at all.
If you or someone you know would be interested in teaching English, please contact us to get in touch with them.
Marth and Adam wrote, “We feel very blessed and grateful for all the love we experience while doing yoga and gifting your books.”
Thank you!
